MSP Program – How it Works

Welcome to the NAMEPA Maritime Sustainability Passport® (MSP) Program!

This two-phase program is based on what we consider our Six Transparency Pillars:

  • Waste Management
  • GHG Emissions
  • Education & Training
  • Technology
  • Social
  • Governance

The program consists of two distinct phases:

Initial Phase: Participants Overview - Guidelines - Current Status on Sustainability and Environmental Care (this phase applies to all registrants)
*** You will have 2 days to finish this phase

Final Phase: Internal Policies, Procedures, Measures and Sustainability Commitment (this phase is divided into three groups according to type of company/organization/individual. You will complete the group applicable to you.)
*** You will have 1 month to complete this phase

Upon the successful completion and submission of the Final Phase, your submission will undergo assessment by ESGPlus—an independent consulting firm specializing in this domain. ESGPlus has entered into a non-disclosure agreement with NAMEPA to provide these services and ensure the confidentiality of participants.

Following the completion and positive evaluation of your submission (with a minimum score of 60%), you will be granted a Maritime Sustainability Passport® & MSP Seal from NAMEPA. This recognition stands as a testament to your dedication and accomplished participation in this program. It acknowledges your efforts in aligning with ESG best practices and affirms your adherence to the program's guidelines. This commendation will be shared across industry media platforms.

The Maritime Sustainability Passport® & MSP Seal will remain valid for one year. As the year concludes, you will receive an email from NAMEPA, inviting you to renew your participation. This process will guide you through the program anew, ensuring your eligibility for another Passport & Seal.

We express our sincere gratitude for your forthcoming participation and unwavering commitment!
