Weston, CT — June 29 — The North American Marine Environment Protection Association (NAMEPA) is pleased to announce that nominations are now open for the 2026 Marine Environment Protection (MEP) Awards being presented at NAMEPA’s Annual event being held in New York City on October 29th. The annual awards program recognizes individuals and organizations whose dedication, innovation, and leadership have made a significant contribution to environmental stewardship within the maritime industry.
For nearly two decades, the MEP Awards have celebrated those who have demonstrated a commitment to protecting our oceans, waterways, and marine ecosystems while advancing sustainable practices throughout the maritime sector.
Nominations are now being accepted in the following categories:
· Environmental Innovation Organization
· Government Environmental Organization (Federal, State, or Local)
· Individual
· Non-Profit Environmental Organization
· Maritime Academy, Harbor School, or University
· Maritime Industry Organization (including shipowners, operators, charterers, and shipyards)
· Port
· Seafarer Ministry
· Sustainability
The awards recognize a broad range of achievements, from technological innovation and environmental leadership to education, workforce development, community engagement, and sustainable business practices.
Award recipients will be honored during NAMEPA’s Annual Conference and Awards Dinner on October 29, 2026, where maritime leaders from across North America will gather to celebrate excellence and share best practices in marine environmental protection.
NAMEPA encourages nominations from throughout the maritime community, including industry professionals, government agencies, educational institutions, non-profit organizations, and environmental advocates.
The deadline for submissions is August 21st, 2026. Nominations will then undergo evaluation by a panel of distinguished experts. The winners will be notified by September 15th, and presented during NAMEPA’s Awards Dinner, on October 29th after NAMEPA’s Annual Conference. Click here to submit your nomination today.
