August Newsletter

As school starts, so do our lists in preparation for the busy months of Fall! September is anything but quiet! As I head to London, then Korea, back to London, and with a brief stop home before heading to Jamaica, I’m reminded how global our mission truly is! The maritime community may be small, but its reach and impact are anything but.

We are especially pleased to announce that ABS’ Chairman and CEO, Christopher Wiernicki will be an opening keynote speaker at NAMEPA’s Annual Conference and Awards Dinner AND receiving the Lifetime Achievement Award!  Rear Admiral Wayne Arguin, Assistant Commandant for Prevention Policy at the U.S. Coast Guard, will also be joining us as a keynote speaker. His expertise will bring a powerful perspective to our discussions on the future of the maritime industry.

All of this will take place at SUNY Maritime College on October 30th along with a Career Fair in the morning to showcase our industry to the next generation as we work together to recruit new entrants into our field. Courtesy of SUNY Maritime College, our candidates will also be offered a tour of the campus AND the Empire State VII.

Meanwhile, the Marine Environment Protection (MEP) Award nominations have poured in, showcasing the incredible commitment across our community to “Save Our Seas.” We can’t wait to honor these efforts at our Awards Dinner on October 30th at SUNY Maritime College. Keep an eye out for when we announce the winners next week!

As we navigate this busy season, I am reminded that our collective mission and collaboration make these achievements possible. Thank you for continuing to journey with us—together, we are making an impact.
