Houston TX- February 19, 2025 – The North American Marine Environment Protection Association (NAMEPA) is pleased to present a panel discussion on Alternative Fuels: Overcoming Challenges in Adoption and Infrastructure during its Marine Operations Seminar: Operations in a Period of Disruption” on March 5th at the Houston Pilots Association.
This panel will bring together industry leaders to explore the evolving landscape of maritime fuels and their impact on operational efficiency, sustainability, supply and responsibility. Leading the panel discussion as moderator is Jan Hagen Andersen, Business Development Director – Americans, DNV. Laying the foundation for overcoming these challenges is Blue Sky Maritime Coalition’s’ President and CEO David Cummins. Port Houston’s Sustainability Program Manager, Andy Morgans, will share plans for Houston’s hydrogen hub and electric. CLIA’s Senior Vice President for Maritime Policy, Donnie Brown, will address how LNG fits into the cruise industry’s fuel mix, and response preparation for future fuels will be presented by Doug Martin, President and General Manager of SMIT Salvage Americas.
This discussion will provide critical insights into the evolving fuel landscape, regulatory considerations, and the infrastructure required to support the industry’s transition, while also providing attendees with a well-rounded perspective on the industry’s fuel transition, addressing key topics such as fuel availability, infrastructure investment, safety considerations, and compliance with emerging regulations. The discussion will also explore the broader implications for ship owners, operators, and ports as they adapt to new fuel technologies.
