USCG RDML Wayne Arguin to Keynote NAMEPA’s Houston Marine Operations Event: “Operations in a Period of Disruption”

HOUSTON, TX – January 16, 2025 — The North American Marine Environment Protection Association (NAMEPA) announced RDML Wayne Arguin, Assistant Commandant for Prevention Policy of the United States Coast Guard will be one of NAMEPA’s opening keynote speakers at its annual Houston Maine Operations Conference, “Operations in a Period of Disruption”, on March 5th at the headquarters of the Houston Pilots from 1200 to 1700hrs. Hosted by the Houston Pilots, the event is designed for companies and industry leaders to take a closer look at the current challenges and disruptions maritime is facing, and how this is shaping the future of the marmite industry.

RDML Arguin will be joined by NAMEPA’s Chairman, Joe Hughes of The American Club, and Keith Letourneau, Partner, Blank Rome, who will be looking at important political topics in a keynote entitled “Between Rhetoric and Reality in Trump’s Administration.” Key topics for the day include Navigating Disruption: Cybersecurity, Digitalization, Automation, and Risk Management in Maritime Operations and Alternative Fuels: Overcoming Challenges in Adoption and Infrastructure.

Other confirmed panelists for the conference include David Cummins, President, and CEO of Blue Sky Maritime Coalition who will speak on Laying the Foundation for Alternative Fuels. NAMEPA’s own Executive Director Molly Dushay will also be moderating Collaborations at Work – Workforce Development and PHPME.

Carleen Lyden Walker, CEO of NAMEPA and Managing Partner, The Maritime Accelerator for Resilience (“MAR”) will also be leading a discussion with the authors of Zero Point Four: How US leadership in Maritime will Secure America’s Future on Maritime Security= National Security: Repowering the US Maritime Industry and other points related to the SHIPS Act.

The conference will conclude with Captain Keith Donahue, Commander Sector Houston – Galveston of the U.S. Coast Guard leading an overview of Houston Happenings, letting attendees in on the exciting and upcoming programs occurring on and around the Houston Ship Channel.
