For Immediate Release
Weston July 15th, 2024 – Carleen Lyden Walker, Co-Founder and CEO of NAMEPA (The North American Marine Environment Protection Association), proudly announced the remarkable results of the Maritime Sustainability Passport® (MSP) Program, marking an extraordinary close to the year’s first half.
“We began the year with an impressive 80% re-enrollment rate, and we conclude the second trimester with a perfect 100% renewal rate, and also welcoming new companies and students in the maritime industry to our sustainability certification process,” stated Walker, emphasizing the program’s success. “The MSP Program is an invaluable tool for companies to gauge their ESG journey, showcase their sustainability commitment to customers, investors, and stakeholders, and continually improve their practices.”
The success and growth of the MSP Program highlight the maritime industry’s escalating commitment to sustainable practices. NAMEPA’s ongoing collaboration with industry leaders and educators sets a promising path for advancing environmental stewardship, social and governance goals in the maritime sector.
The Maritime Sustainability Passport® (MSP) Program was developed by the North American Marine Environment Protection Association and ESGPlus LLC as an innovative ESG assessment tool tailored specifically for the maritime industry. Launched in June 2020, the tool enables companies, associations, educators, and individuals in the industry to evaluate their adherence to ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) principles. Once an entity has received their MSP certification, they need to renew their status annually, to insure the integrity of the program and the entity’s adherence to ESG values and practices.
