WASHINGTON D.C. – April 4, 2024 – The North American Marine Environment Protection Association (NAMEPA) is gearing up for National Maritime Week taking place in Washington D.C. from May 21st to May 23rd. During this week of collaboration and celebration of the maritime industry, it is important to highlight the organizations coming together in unity to celebrate our Nation’s maritime heritage and secure a thriving future for American maritime commerce.
Coinciding with the maiden transatlantic voyage of the SS Savannah in 1819, the United States observes National Maritime Day each year on May 22nd. This day celebrates the American maritime industry and its vital role in the nation’s economy, recognizing the tireless efforts of those who dedicate their lives to this crucial sector. While recognizing maritime achievements, this day also serves as a time to highlight the importance of growth needed to strengthen national security through this industry.
This incredible line-up of events, supported by a growing number of organizations and companies, highlights the strong collaboration within our nation’s Maritime Industry. Throughout the week, attendees can expect panel discussions, seminars, and networking opportunities. These discussions will range from innovative technologies for navigational safety to environmental regulations and crew development.
By bringing together diverse stakeholders, National Maritime Week aims to foster collaboration and identify solutions to ensure a safe and sustainable future for American maritime transportation.
