Boys and Girls Club of Stamford: Annual Summer Program

NAMEPA joined the Stamford Boys and Girls Club for our annual summer outreach with clubhouse members! NAMEPA was invited to engage with 2nd and 5th graders for a 4-week marine environment education program where clubhouse members learned the importance of the ocean and marine animals. Members were introduced to various species and their unique feeding patterns in the food web. We uncovered species’ vital role through NAMEPA’s Food Web Jenga game, discovered bivalves and seaweed in Touch Tanks, explored the nearby beach and ventured out to do a beach cleanup! Members found abalone shells, oyster shells, small crabs and even a horseshoe crab carapace while picking up trash along the way!  Overall, it was a great success and club members were able to uncover ways they help Save Our Seas!
