NAMEPA to host 2018 Annual Conference and Awards Dinner – The New CSR: Ethical, Strategic, Sustainable

October 15, 2018 – The North American Marine Environment Protection Association (NAMEPA) will be hosting its 11th Annual Conference and Awards Dinner on Thursday, October 25th aboard the Hornblower Infinity at Pier 40 in New York City. This year’s conference theme is “The New CSR: Ethical, Strategic, Sustainable” which will underscore how Corporate Sustainable Responsibility can benefit companies and the industry at large. Key speakers include RADM John Nadeau of the US Coast Guard, Donald Roussel of Transport Canada, Scorpio Group’s Ole Chr Schroder and Cargill's Jan-Willem van den Dijssel, who will share expectations and strategies for meeting the myriad of demands in today's maritime environment.

A key part of NAMEPA’s mission is to provide networking, collaboration, and career development opportunities for those in the maritime industry. Our marine industry is changing at an unprecedented rate, with societal demands driving regulatory requirements driving technological change. A vital component of this change is to evaluate not just the "what" we do as an industry, but also the "how". With an operating climate that is increasingly transparent, industry needs to match that transparency.

Following the conference will be a brief NAMEPA Annual General Meeting and the NAMEPA Annual Awards Reception and Dinner. The Awards Reception and Dinner will honor those in the marine industry, education, and conservation fields making strides to “Save Our Seas.” Honorees include: Euronav, the Montreal Port Authority, Restore America’s Estuaries, the Caribbean Maritime University, Total Marine Solution’s Ocean Guardian product, and more. The Awards dinner will also honor student winners of NAMEPA’s and American Salvage Association’s Marine Science Call for Papers Competition.
