MARPOL Compliance in the Caribbean

The Wider Caribbean Area is a global treasure trove of pristine beaches, clean water, tourism and other enterprises.  Yet all of these are made vulnerable by the lack of MARPOL implementation in the region.  As highlighted by these articles (Caribbean Maritime, Issue No 33) by NAMEPA Board member Alejandro Trillo and our partners, the OAS-CIP, only a quarter of the Caribbean nations have implemented some aspect of MARPOL.  That leaves an enormous risk of catastrophic impacts, with few resources, in the event of an accident.

We need more countries to implement, and invest, in MARPOL in order to preserve their ecological and economic sustainability!
