NAMEPA follows the 26 year tradition of HELMEPA, which unified the Greek Shipping Community around efforts to protect the seas. Why Now?
There is an increasing focus on the environmental policies and practices of the marine industry in North America and internationally. Establishing a MEPA in North America helps reinforce the commercial maritime industry’s commitment to practicing sound marine environment protection, and facilitate carrying the message about protecting the marine environment throughout the industry and the general public.
Our goal is the success of maritime interests. This takes on many forms, from developing marketing and communications platforms for shipowners and service providers resulting in revenue generation, to the promotion of services benefiting seafarers and the creation of NAMEPA (North American Marine Environment Protection Association). Our passion is to enhance the maritime industry and its image.
